Harry

Harry, the distinguished black-and-tan dachshund with a handsome dusting of gray, has been part of the DARE family since 2024. He originally came to us alongside his beloved companion Carly after their owner passed away. Together, they found comfort and stability in a foster home where their personalities flourished and their bond was unmistakable. Though Carly has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her presence is still felt, and Harry continues forward carrying that love with him.
Harry enjoys spending time outdoors, tapping into his dachshund instincts by exploring the yard, hunting lizards, and supervising any digging projects (some of which required ten bags of topsoil to repair!). He is doing well in foster care and remains medically stable while living with Cushing’s disease, a condition caused by excess cortisol that is managed with daily medication and ongoing veterinary monitoring. With proper care, dogs like Harry can continue to enjoy a comfortable and happy life.
Now a Forever Foster, Harry is surrounded by the love, patience, and routine that help him feel safe and secure. Senior dogs with special medical needs require continued support, and donations to DARE help provide the medications, vet care, and everyday comforts that make this possible. By supporting Harry and dogs like him, you help ensure their golden years are filled with dignity, love, and joy.
