We are ONLY accepting applications for dogs currently listed on our website.

Before You Apply

Minimum Adoption Requirements

To ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and adopters, the following requirements apply:

  • Adopters must be 21 years of age or older
  • All pets currently in the home must be spayed or neutered
    Rare exceptions may be considered with valid veterinary or medical documentation
  • All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention
    Rare exceptions may be considered with good reason

DARE is committed to placing our dogs in safe, responsible, and loving homes, and these requirements help us do just that.

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees help cover veterinary care, rehabilitation, and ongoing rescue efforts. Fees are as follows:

  • Puppy (Under 1 year) – Purebred Dachshund or Dachshund Mix: $350
  • Adult (1–9 years) – Purebred Dachshund: $300
  • Adult (1–9 years) – Dachshund Mix: $200
  • Senior (10+ years) – Purebred Dachshund or Dachshund Mix: $150

Every adoption fee directly supports DARE’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dachshunds of all ages—including those with medical or special needs.
